Newscopy (1953 Nov. 6): "Two iron workers plunged 246 feet to their death today from the Golden Gate Bridge. They were carried downward when a 12ư-ton scaffold they were propelling along the bridge structure suddenly collapsed. They were identified as A. Croxson of San Francisco and D. Hogan of Walnut Creek. They were employed by the Judson-Pacific-Murphy Corp. of Emeryville, which began work in September on the job of laterally bracing the bridge to strengthen it against wind damage."
