Newscopy: "#227301--12nd P.I.O.--4/18/47 -- NineteenBalboa High School students apply for enlistment in the New Naval Reserve. A special Navy bus brought the teenage volunteers to the U.S. Navy Recruiting Station at 98 Golden Gate Avenue to apply for enlistment in the Naval Reserve for inactive duty. Under the present program, in addition to veterens, men of 17 to 40 years of age may enroll in he volunteer Reserve without previous military experience. Non-veterans may also qualify for the Organized Reserve in which he receives uniforms and a full day's pay for each of te weekly training periods which he attends."
