Newscopy: Curtain up at opera opener -- New York… A view of the stage after the curtain went up on act three (The Great Hall of the Castle) during the presentation of Verdi’s "Otello" at the opening of the 54th regular season at the Metropolitan Opera House. The opening was the fourth under the regime headed by general manager Edward Johnson. It was a gala night for society notables who never miss an opera opener.
